Put on by Travis Scott and Live Nation Entertainment, the two-day music festival has featured numerous popular acts performing, with Scott closing out the event each year on its main stage.
The concert became chaotic when a massive 50,000-person audience rushed to see Travis Scott. The size of the crowd left those who desperately wanted to get out of the excessively compressed group unable to, which resulted in others being trampled over and stomped on. The latest reports stated that more than 300 people were injured, 17 were hospitalized, and eight were confirmed dead.
Live Nation Worldwide
Live Nation Entertainment and its subsidiary Live Nation Worldwide have been linked to many injuries and around 200 deaths at events in seven countries since 2006. According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) complaints and news reports, the company has been under federal scrutiny for years for work safety and antitrust violations. The various tragedies that have occurred at Live Nation concerts include violent intrusions, such as a suicide bomber exploded in 2017 that killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England; a mass shooting at a country music festival in Las Vegas in 2017 that killed 60; and a terrorist attack at a concert hall in Paris where 89 people died.
